Apprenticeship Program: Overview

Facilitating the Transformational Breathwork experience is both an intuitive art and a learned skill. The Mastery of Breath Year-Long will encompass both. Through ongoing study, training, and practice during the year-long, you will gain sufficient mastery of all aspects necessary to implement a successful Transformational Breathwork (also known as Rebirthing) practice among individuals, couples and groups. This includes development of both:

Spiritual Arts

  • Your conscious relationship with the breath;
  • Being guided by the breath;
  • Intuition;
  • Surrendering to breath;
  • Release of ambition and ego attachments;
  • Awareness of the sacredness of the breathwork process; and,
  • The path of service.

In addition, you will learn:

Practical Skills

  • Identifying breath patterns and coaching the breath;
  • Engaging the client, setting them at ease, eliciting information
  • Knowledge of energy release and physical sensations experienced during breathwork
  • Techniques for handling specific, potentially challenging situations including anesthesia release, unconsciousness, fear, resistance, suspension, etc.
  • Wet Breathwork techniques (using a hot tub or warm pool)
  • Types of birth experiences and their effect on individual behavior and relationship dynamics
  • Preparing for facilitation of individuals and groups, including preparing the setting (safety, sacredness, impeccability, candles, ventilation, phones, lighting, music, interview forms, etc.) and preparing yourself (the most important aspect)
  • Professionalism, client relationships, ethics
  • Developing a clientele, including marketing, networking and enrollment
  • 'How much to charge?'
  • How to talk about Transformational Breathwork and Rebirthing, including handling difficult questions
  • Creating a group
  • Producing a weekend seminar or workshop from start to finish
  • Identifying obstacles to success
  • Your relationships to money, professional success and becoming self-employed.

Apprenticeship Program: Program Design

At the heart of the Mastery of Breath Apprenticeship Program are four mandatory weekends, lasting three to four days, spread out over the course of the year. These weekends will include training and development, study, practical instruction and practice. They will include a number of sessions held in conjunction with the "Opening to Breath, Opening to Purpose" retreat.

Optimally, an apprentice will join the program in one year and complete the program the following year. However, each student is permitted to take as long as they need to in order to complete the program. Weekend dates and locations are generally set for the next six to twelve months at a time - as such, if you have specific weekends you must block out, please inform us so that we can take your schedule into consideration during our scheduling process. On the East Coast, weekends will be held in upstate New Jersey or New York. On the West Coast, they will be held in or near Marin County, in Northern California.

Surrounding and supplementing the weekends is a one-on-one coaching program designed to encourage, coach and inspire you to develop skills essential to the success of your personal Transformational Breathwork practice.

The coaching program will begin in the two weeks following Weekend One. Approximately every two weeks, you will call your coach and/or the instructor, and have a 30-minute one-on-one coaching session by phone. Except for one month during the summer months, this coaching will continue throughout the program until completion.

Apprenticeship Program: Requirements

Prior to Certification, participants are expected to:

  • Facilitate a minimum of five private Transformational Breathwork clients a minimum of three sessions each, with two of these for a minimum of 10 sessions each. (Required prior to individual certification)
  • Act as lead facilitator in at least one group Transformational Breathwork session, with the Instructor and/or their designee present.
  • Demonstrate sufficient mastery of Transformational Breathwork Practitioner techniques, skills, knowledge and awareness, through (1) full participation in all required weekends and coaching sessions, and (2) following instructions and completing additional training (at zero or nominal cost [i.e. room and board]) if it is requested by the Instructor (most students will not require additional training).
  • Demonstrating a sufficient mastery of enrollment, through the acquiring of private Transformational Breathwork clients, and through participating in the enrollment process of at least one Opening to Breath, already on Mastery of Breath's registration lists receive $50 per participant, and $250 per participant in the Apprenticeship program).

Apprenticeship Program: Is It Right For Me?

Who is the Year-Long Program for?

The Mastery of Breath Year-Long Training Program is designed for women and men who feel called to offer the experience of Transformational Breathing to others. Though desired, significant personal Transformational Breathing experience is not necessary for participation in the program. Program participants may have had very little experience with Transformational Breathing - as little as one or two sessions - or they may have experienced Transformational Breathwork dozens of times prior to entering the program. The program will work with each participant at their own level, and provide ample opportunities to sufficiently master the required skills and arts prior to the end of the year.

Is It Appropriate for Me?

You will know the program is appropriate for you if at least two of the following are true for you:

  • You are ready to take your personal Transformational Breathwork to a new level;
  • You feel called to offer Transformational Breathing to others and/or wish to add it to your healer "skill-set"; or,
  • You desire and/or are called to facilitate others' transformational experiences, whatever they may be.

    Apprenticeship Program: Registration Information

    To be considered for the school and/or to discuss the registration process, please contact The Mastery of Breath School. We will then schedule an appointment for an intake discussion and interview, which you will find valuable regardless of whether you enroll in the school or not.

    We do not wish to preclude anyone from attending the school due to financial reasons. As such, we offer a variety of payment arrangements to allow for the diversity of financial situations among our students. A portion of the cost of the school goes towards our scholarship and advance registration programs. In addition, most participants will be able to recoup the cost prior to the end of the year-long through private clients and retreat enrollment work. Though this is not by any means guaranteed, it is certainly an avenue available to most students. If you are interested in the school, please contact us regardless of your financial situation.

    The cost of the Mastery of Breath Year-Long includes a $200 non-refundable registration fee. The total cost of the program varies from the East and West Coasts (due to costs of weekends and travel), but all program costs include individual coaching sessions and full room and board during mandatory scheduled weekends (additional weekends are extra). Participants are strongly encouraged to pay in full at the time of registration whenever possible.
